This is an interesting article (originally shared by Erin) that is definitely worth reading. We constantly hear American students being compared to students in other countries, and the disappointing data always solidifies the fact that we fall quite far behind.
This article examines the problems with Math education in America, with perspective from a teacher who left his teaching job in Japan to learn the American way of education that he had heard so much about. What he found was a disparity among teachers and the need for more support for Math instructional practices.
As your Math Coach, I truly hope to be the beginning of that support for you. Feel free to comment your thoughts below!
